Lots of love!

Well folks, here we are in February! Already. I started pottering last week, to make a valentine's hairband for my girly. I love making things for her, she LOVES everything! She is always just bubbling over with so much enthusiasm for life. I love it when this tips over into  all of her mama made belongings. I love hearing her proudly telling everyone that her mummy made it for her.

Ok, complete tangent there! Where was I? Oh yeah, valentine's day. I started pottering with some felt and made a sweet little heart for K to wear in her hair. This simple little heart made me smile so much that I decided to keep going. I spent a few lovely relaxing nights watching tv and playing with some felt and button and all sorts of valentine coloured fun! It was nice to be able to sit with the boys and craft away rather than hiding away in my crafty zone with the sewing machine whirring away.

The end result was a wee variety of hearts that can be added to hairbands, clips , brooches or even keyrings! First up - some hairbands

A beautiful glittery pink band with my hand stitched felt heart embellishment.

I also added one to a plain pink band. Simple and pretty.

Each heart is a unique combination of buttons and ribbon roses.

I also attached one to a an alligator clip  and it would be so sweet pulling a little hair back or even nestled in to the side of a ponytal or other "up do!"

I haven't attached them all yet as I wasn't sure which would be most popular so I thought I would just share pics of the hearts and the buyers could choose and then tell me how they would like to wear it and I would go forth and oblige!

The hearts measure approx 2 1/2" x 3" and there is one slightly bigger heart that is 3" x 3 1/4"

The prices are as follows
Hairband - £3.50
Brooch pin - £3.00
Clippy - £3.00
Keyring - 3.00

My girly is off to school wearing hers today, she chose a pink glittery hairband for , I must remember to take a pic of her when she gets home fron school :-) , we even have sunshine here today so it will be fun and probably a little wiggly.

I am off to list the finished ones in my folksy shop , if you would like to order one of the hearts, drop me an email (email addy next to my profile at the top right of the page) or leave me a comment to let me know which one is your favourite and how you would like it!

Some red red roses.

Recently I found the forums on Folksy and I  have enjoyed joining in with thr friendly Folksy community there.
Thismonth I decided to take part in the January craft challenge, the theme was Scotland and the final date for entering was today! Burn's Day.
And so in my usual style I kind of scraped in at the  last moment. LOL.
Luckily it isn't a competition, it is just for fun and to be inspiring and challenging.

After a false start with some very stroppy tartan fabric (which I ultimately abandoned), I decided to make a fabric brooch. I have actually made  hairclips like this for the craft fair, but I haven't done a brooch in red before.

So here it is my litttle nod to Mr Rabbie Burns himself, my wee brooch adorned with red red roses.

Girly floral and lace headband.

A lovely, floral hairband with a unique lace and ribbon embellishment, finished off with a textured metal button.

£4.00

The beautiful floral pattern on the band was just begging for some delicate, girly details to be added. I think they compliment each other very sweetly.

New items on offer!

I have had a busy couple of weeks over here. I had a few orders to make and send to their new homes and I have tried to start building a wee stock of items.

Last weekend my little girl K was heading out for the day with her Granny and Auntie. Her sweet new dress was just begging for a hair accessory to match and so I whipped up a starburst flower hairband. As soon as I saw it I fell in love with and just knew I had to make more! I had enough materials to make one more  so I could post it to my folksy.

Isn't she sweet ?

There is one available £4.50 and available by leaving a comment here or through my Folksy shop link here

Happy New Year 2012!

Happy happy new year folks! I hope you all had a wonderful festive season. We had a lovely, but busy, yet relaxing time. Just perfect.

I was completely thrilled and super excited for Polka dot sweetheart goodies to be under so many Christmas trees! I didn't get pictures of everything as a lot of it was finished and packed up in the week running up to Christmas. Eek!

A few gifts in my "classic polka dot sweetheart" colour combinations were nestled in tissue and tucked into paper bags, just waiting to be opened on Christmas morning.

This loveloy girl has found a new home where she will hopefully enjoy plenty of time in the kitchen!
(good thing really, I almost kept her for myself!)

A few cup sleeves will be hugging some hot chocolate, tea or coffee this year.

And keeping fingers warm in the cold weather, but not too warm.

Lots of hair accessories made their way into those little paper bags, I am looking forward to seeing these little cuties adorning some cute little heads!

If you have found your way here after receiving a gift with my little card attached, then please allow me to welcome you into my little polka dot corner of the world. I hope you like your gift and you will enjoy following along on our journey!

May 2012 be a happy, healthy and prosperous year for you all xx

A first for Polka Dot Sweetheart!

At the weekend I took part in my first ever craft event. Luckily I had some first class peeps to keep me company!

The preparation was a lot more intense than I expected and I proclaimed (more than once and very loudly!) that I would never do another fair. But I feel much more positive now, I think I will try to join in with another local event nearer Christmas time. At the very least I have an idea of what sold so I can avoid the time consuming things that didn't sell.
I was really pleased with my little corner and it all pulled together and co-ordinated in the end, I think.

My little felt flowers and brooches were so much more popular than I expected. I am thrilled!! I think they are so cute!

If you are reading this blog after picking up my card at the fayre, Welcome!
I hope you will pop in again and say hello. Thanks to everyone who supported us in our little venture xx
